Debate: Are slow-burn dramas like The Leftovers actually better when you binge them instead of waiting week to week?
I was at a coffee shop last weekend and heard two guys arguing about whether shows like The Leftovers or Dark lose their impact when you stream them all at once instead of waiting seven days between episodes. One said the slow pacing lets you soak in the details, while the other claimed the weekly wait built the mystery and community theories. What do you think, does binging hurt a show that relies on dread and suspense, or does it make the payoff hit harder?

Binge the first two seasons of The Leftovers if you want, but save season 3 for weekly viewing. The way that last season builds tension between episodes is something you can't fake with autoplay. I tried binging Dark all at once and got burned out on the gloom, had to take a break halfway through. If you're watching a show that's deliberately slow, give yourself at least a day between episodes to let it sink in or you'll miss half the point. Have you ever regretted binging something that was better at a slower pace?

Man that Dark burnout is real. I did the same thing with Season 2 of Mindhunter, tried to plow through it in two days and by episode 6 I couldn't even tell you what happened in the first half. Something about these slow burn shows where every scene is heavy with meaning, they need space to breathe. It's like listening to a sad album on repeat vs spacing it out where each song hits different. I think we're all so used to the autoplay dopamine drip that we forget some stories are meant to be sat with for a minute.
