Can we talk about how the season 3 finale cliffhanger broke my whole watch plan

Last week I sat down for a lazy Saturday with the plan to finally finish season 3 of that crime drama everyone keeps talking about. I had snacks, I had my dog settled, the whole setup. Then episode 8 just ends mid-scene with no warning. I thought my streaming app glitched out. Restarted the router, checked the app, even called my brother to see if his copy did the same thing. Nope. That's just how they chose to end it. I was so mad I almost didn't start season 4, but then curiosity got me and I blew through 5 episodes that night anyway. Has anyone else had a show just stop like that and ruin a whole binge session? Do you check episode counts before you start a new show now, or am I the only one who got burned like this?
