Old shop guy told me to stop greasing pedal threads, he was right
I used to slather grease on every pedal spindle thread until a retired mechanic at the co-op near Portland said that can cause them to loosen up over time. Tried it dry on my last two builds and 300 miles later they haven't budged. Anyone else run pedals dry or is this just a mountain bike thing?

Funny enough, that same retired guy told me to stop putting grease on my seatpost collar bolt. Said it just attracts grit and makes things seize up weird. I ignored him for a month, then stripped one on a trailside fix near Hood River. Now I run that dry too, feels wrong but works.
