Hit 500 cassette swaps today and my thumbs finally gave up

I've been turning wrenches at a shop in Columbus for about 8 years, and today I finished my 500th cassette removal using the same cheap chain whip I bought when I started. The tool still works fine, but my left thumb is shot from holding the cassette lockring in place during those last hundred swaps. Has anyone found a better way to brace the tool so you don't wreck your hand on the high-mileage days?
