Finally found a way to keep my chain clean without a full degrease

I was tired of wiping grime off my chain every ride. Started using a spray bottle with just water and a rag to wipe it down after each ride in the rain. Saves me 20 minutes of degreasing each week.

Man, I feel you on this one. I started doing something similar after I got tired of spending half my weekend just cleaning the drivetrain. A quick spray and wipe after a wet ride really does make a world of difference. I keep a little spray bottle with some simple green diluted in it by my bike stand now. The grime comes off so much easier when it hasn't had time to bake on. It's one of those little tricks that just makes the whole bike ownership thing less of a chore.

The real game changer for me was switching to a wax based chain lube instead of the wet lube. Seriously, after a muddy ride I just hit the drivetrain with a hose and the grime slides RIGHT off. No scrubbing or degreaser needed. I was skeptical at first but now I'm never going back. It's like the chain self cleans almost. Plus the drivetrain parts actually last longer because you're not constantly scraping grit into the bearings with a brush.
