DAE think hydraulic brake bleeds are overhyped for daily riders?

Did a full bleed on a guy's commuter at my shop in Boise last Tuesday and honestly a $15 cable swap would have fixed his mushy lever feel. Anyone else think we push bleeds too hard on bikes that never see a race?
