Cramping up during brake cable installs, need advice

I've been working as a mechanic for about three years now, and lately, my hands start cramping badly when I'm installing brake cables. It happens every time I have to thread the inner cable through the housing, especially on road bikes with tight routing. The pain makes my fingers stiff, and I drop tools or fumble with small parts. I tried taking more breaks and stretching my hands, but it only helps a little. Sometimes, I use a different set of cable cutters thinking it might be the tool, but no change. I'm worried this might turn into a bigger issue if I don't address it. Has anyone found a good way to prevent hand cramps during detailed work? Maybe there's a specific grip or technique I'm missing. I'd really appreciate any tips from fellow mechanics who've dealt with this.

For cable installs, I found that keeping my wrists straight and using my arm strength more than my fingers cuts down on cramps. Your mileage may vary, but it's worth a shot. In my experience, small changes in technique can make a big difference.

Wait, you get cramps from that? I always figured cable installs were more about patience than hard physical work (like fishing wires through walls). The fact you need a whole body mechanics strategy for it blows my mind. Guess it makes sense when you're pulling cable all day, but man, that sounds way harder on the hands than I ever imagined.
