Bought a used Campagnolo groupset off eBay and got a surprise I didn't expect
Last month I found a Record 10-speed groupset on eBay for $180. The seller said it was in good shape but I budgeted another $60 for replacement parts. When it arrived, the shifters were actually new old stock still in the box and the derailleurs had zero wear. I put it on a old steel frame and it shifted perfect out of the box. After riding it for three weeks I noticed the rear hub had a cracked flange that I missed in the photos. That led me to pull everything apart and find the cassette was a mismatched 11-speed with a spacer. Has anyone else had a used groupset deal that looked great but had some hidden issue you caught later?

Read a forum post where someone found out their "10-speed" was actually a frankenbuild with 11-speed parts hiding the same way. Seller probably knew exactly what they were doing.

Wait, the seller listed it as a Record 10-speed and it had an 11-speed cassette with a spacer? That's wild. I've been wrenching on my own bikes for years and I've seen some shady stuff, but that takes the cake. @shah.ben is right, sounds like the seller knew exactly what they were pulling. I once got a "lightly used" rear derailleur that turned out to be held together with zip ties, but this is a whole different level of sneaky.
