Warning: I hit 11 trips to the hardware store in one weekend and I am not proud
I counted the receipts last Sunday and I made 11 separate trips to the Ace down on Miller Ave in about 36 hours. Eleven. It started as a simple job, just swapping a bathroom faucet, and by Saturday night I was driving there for a single washer that cost 39 cents. The worst part is the counter guy, Dave, started greeting me by name by trip six and asking how the project was going. On trip nine I bought a basin wrench I already owned and had buried somewhere in the garage, which I found about 20 minutes after I got home. I want to say someone else is to blame here, but no, I just refuse to grab everything at once like a normal person. I think it is a pride thing, like admitting I need to write a list would mean I don't know what I'm doing. My firm take is that any job under an hour should never require more than two trips, and if it does, you have to stop and really think about your life. So what is your record, and did you also end up on a first name basis with the guy at the register?
