Built a shelf with wet lumber, it bowed so bad the paint cans fell off
Last month in Phoenix I grabbed some "seasoned" 2x4s from a big box store without checking. Felt dry enough. Built a sturdy shelf for my garage, 6 feet wide, loaded it with paint cans and bolts. Three days later the middle sagged like a hammock. Woke up to a crash at 2 AM. Cans everywhere, white latex splattered all over my lawnmower. Neighbor came out in his robe asking if I was okay. Took me 4 hours with a level and new cedar boards to fix it. Now I check moisture content on every single board. Anyone else get fooled by lumber that looks fine but acts like a wet noodle?
