Am I the only one who didn't know you can't tile over old adhesive??
Tried to redo my bathroom floor in my rent house near Aurora last month to save some cash. I scraped off the old vinyl and figured leftover sticky glue was fine to tile right over, so I mixed up thin set and laid 12 tiles on it. Two days later every single one popped loose when I walked across them, and my buddy who does floors for a living said the glue keeps the mortar from bonding. Cost me $80 in tile and a weekend. How do you guys get that old adhesive up without wrecking the subfloor?
Bro same thing happened to me at my old place, thought I was being smart saving time and nope, tiles were sliding around like ice cubes a day later. I ended up just renting a floor scraper from the hardware store and going at it with a heat gun, took forever but the subfloor survived. Next time I'm just paying someone, that weekend was not worth it lol.
