The guy who asked me to 'sculpt his soul' through a fade

Had a client last Tuesday sit down, point at his head, and say 'don't just cut my hair, make me feel something' so I gave him a zero guard and told him the blank canvas was for his own reflection.

Hold up though... that zero guard might've been a little too literal. Like, he asked for a feeling and you gave him a blank stare instead of a blank canvas. A fade is supposed to be about layers and texture, not just taking it all off. Maybe next time start with a 2 guard and blend it up, let the reveal hit him gradual like.

So I just straight up skip the blending and go for the big reveal? That's like showing up to a party with the cake already eaten. I once gave a guy a zero guard because he said he wanted "no maintenance" and he looked like he was ready to join a witness protection program. We both just sat there staring at his reflection, and I had to ask, "You sure this is the vibe you were going for?" He didn't even tip, just walked out like he was processing a life choice. Maybe gradual's the way to go next time, I'll keep the 2 guard handy for the folks who want a fade, not a fade away.
