That $200 clipper I bought on a whim last month was a total bust

I grabbed a new cordless clipper from a brand I'd never heard of thinking it would be a good backup for busy days, but the motor started lagging after just 10 haircuts. Now I'm back to using my old Wahl and feeling stupid for wasting the cash on something that looked flashy in the ad. Has anyone else had bad luck with those lesser known clipper brands?

Jump right in with my own story, actually that ProCord Ultra X you mentioned emmam67, I almost bought one too but I didn't because I saw the specs online. The problem with those Instagram clippers is they make the motor sound like it's got all this torque but really they're using cheap DC motors that can't handle back to back haircuts. My buddy runs a shop and he bought a set of three different no-name clippers from a trade show and every single one burned out within a month. The sad part is the cases on those things look so cool with the LED lights and the weight feels nice in your hand, but the actual cutting parts are junk. I learned the hard way too with a cordless model that had a lithium battery that swelled up after three months, scared me half to death. Stick with the Wahl or the Andis if you want something that lasts, those ads are just trying to separate you from your money.

Jump right in with my own story. Bought a clipper called "ProCord Ultra X" from some random Instagram ad, sleek looking thing with a fancy LCD screen and everything. Motor started making a weird grinding noise after maybe 15 cuts, but the real joke was the battery life. It would die halfway through a haircut, leaving me with a half-shaved head and a tangled cord I had to dig out from under the sink. Ended up tossing it in the back of my truck for emergency use, but it's just a paperweight now. Those flashy ads with the slow-mo shots and the "professional grade" claims, I swear they're designed to make you forget your old reliable Wahl.
