That $140 clipper blade sharpening kit was a total waste

I bought one of those expensive sharpening kits online thinking I could save money on blade swaps for my shop in Tucson, but after 3 tries my edges came out rougher than a dull butter knife. I ended up ruining two good pairs of Wahl blades trying to follow the YouTube tutorial, so that's basically $140 down the drain plus the cost of replacements. Has anyone actually gotten one of these kits to work, or is it just me?

Man, that kit sounds like it sharpened your wallet more than your blades! I've always figured those fancy kits are a gamble, and it sounds like you rolled snake eyes twice. Sorry about your luck, but I'd rather pay a pro than turn my clippers into a mangled mess.
