PSA: A 12 year old kid schooled me on fading at my own chair last Saturday
Last Saturday a kid named Marcus sat in my chair with his dad, and he asked for a taper with a hard part. I started my usual routine, clippers up, guard down, and he goes "my cousin does it backward, he starts at the top and works down." I laughed it off, finished the cut, and it looked fine. Then his dad pulls out a phone and shows me a video of the cousin fading from the crown down, and the blend was cleaner than mine on the sides. I tried it on the next three guys, and honestly it laid the transition flatter with less guesswork. Now I am messing with my guard order and I keep second guessing myself mid cut. Anybody here fade top down, or am I about to unlearn 9 years of habit for a 12 year old?
