At home, we talk about what hair styles people like or dislike. I bring those topics up in the shop, and it makes talking to clients feel more natural. Do you get ideas from your family for what to chat about while cutting hair?

My brother's random movie opinions used to annoy me at dinner. But your post showed me how those everyday talks can actually help with client chats. I guess I should listen more at home lol.

My dad's rants about his barber never listening gave me the best opening line for new clients. It breaks the ice every time. @the_julia is totally right about finding gold in those annoying family talks. I even stole my niece's debate about curtain bangs for my consultation small talk.
