Client called my fade patchy, turned out my clipper guard was bent

A kid I've been cutting for 8 months told me my fade looked patchy last Saturday. I was ready to argue but I looked at my clipper and the number 2 guard was actually warped, must have dropped it the week before. Swapped in a new guard and the next cut came out clean as glass. Now I check every guard for flatness before I even flip the clipper on. Anyone else ever had a guard fail on them without noticing?
