Swore by my metal bench scraper for 8 years until my neighbor in Tulsa handed me a plastic one
After 3 weeks of using that cheap plastic scraper on sticky dough I admitted it was cutting my cleanup time in half because nothing sticks to it, so what else am I wrong about in my own kitchen?
Tell me more about the dough you were working with. Was it a wet high hydration thing or just regular bread dough that made the metal scraper so annoying? Because I use mine for everything, cutting dough, scooping flour, scraping my counter, and now I'm wondering if I've just been fighting my tools this whole time. What else did your neighbor show you that made you question stuff? Does the plastic one hold up or does it get chewed up after a while?
