I spent $75 on a fancy cake turntable and it's honestly not worth it

I mean, everyone online acts like a heavy, expensive turntable is a must for smooth frosting. So I got one, the kind with the big metal base and the non-slip top. It cost me $75, which is a lot for a single tool. After using it for about six months, I keep going back to my old cheap plastic one. The heavy one is just too slow to spin, and it's a pain to clean. I feel like I have to fight with it to get a good speed for a clean edge. Maybe it's just me, but for buttercream and even ganache, my $15 plastic turntable does the same job faster. Has anyone else found that the 'pro' gear isn't always better for a home baker?

Wait, you mean you weren't using one before? How were you even surviving? My arm would fall off trying to get buttercream smooth with just a spatula. That little crank handle is a total lifesaver, I can't believe I waited so long to get one. The difference in how the frosting looks is honestly night and day.
