TIL the real trick to watching terrible sci-fi is lowering your expectations twice

I kept getting mad at movies like "Sharknado 3" because I expected some level of logic. Then about 3 months ago I sat down with "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and purposely told myself it'd be the worst thing ever. I actually laughed through the whole thing because I wasn't fighting it. Anybody else find that going in with zero standards makes bad movies way more fun?

Last time I watched The Room I did a shot every time someone said "tearing me apart" and by the end I was crying laughing at a spoon in a frame. Zero expectations plus alcohol is a cheat code for bad movies.

I read once that Tommy Wiseau kept the spoon picture in the movie because he genuinely thought it was artistic. The guy paid like 6 million dollars to make that film and refused to use any of the actual takes where the actors said their lines correctly. Pretty sure I saw an interview where one of the crew members said they filmed the rooftop scene 47 times because Wiseau kept forgetting to take off his sunglasses.
