I was watering my vegetable garden every morning for months and it was a total waste

I mean, my plants were just okay, not great. Then my aunt visited from Tucson and saw me doing it. She just said, 'You're watering the leaves, not the roots.' I felt so dumb. I got a soaker hose and put it right on the soil, and everything perked up in like a week. Has anyone else had a basic watering mistake that took way too long to figure out?

Oh man, I overwatered my first cactus so much I basically gave it a bath. Took me a year to realize they don't like that.

Yeah I drowned a snake plant once. Thought it looked thirsty, gave it a whole water bottle. Turned into a mushy mess in like a week. Still feel bad about that.
