Doubted the water filter spreadsheet, now I plan trips around it

I thought tracking every stream crossing was overkill until last fall on the John Muir Trail. The spreadsheet flagged a dry stretch near Reds Meadow that I would have missed, and it saved me 6 miles of backtracking. Anyone else keep route notes this detailed or just wing it on the trail?
