Walked into a shop in Detroit last Saturday and saw something wild

I stopped by a little collision center near 8 Mile to pick up a bumper cover I ordered. While I was waiting, I noticed they had four cars lined up with the exact same quarter panel damage. All late model Ford sedans, all crunched in the same spot above the rear wheel. The owner told me they see this pattern like clockwork from a certain pothole-riddled street near the old plant. Anyone else run into weird repeat damage patterns like that in your area?

Hey I actually know that street near 8 Mile you're talking about, right by the old GM plant. We had a similar thing happen in my neighborhood with a storm drain grate that was sticking up just enough to catch low bumpers on the driver side. Took us three months and about eight cars before the city finally came out and fixed the thing. Best advice I can give is to write down the exact spot and take pictures of every car you see with that damage, then start calling your city council person's office every single day until they send someone out. If the shop owner is smart they'll start keeping a log of it too, because a pattern like that is way easier to prove to the city than just one or two complaints.

Four cars with the exact same damage? That's wild but honestly I believe it. I saw this one intersection in Cleveland where every third truck had a bent passenger side mirror. Turns out there was this low hanging tree branch that only caught big vehicles and everyone just kept hitting it for months before someone finally trimmed it.
