Tried a different way to block sand a quarter panel yesterday
Had a 2015 F-150 with a long, shallow dent on the rear quarter. Instead of my usual 80 grit on a block, I grabbed a 3M Trizact 1500 disc on my DA for the final pass. The finish came out so smooth it almost looked like factory orange peel, not my usual flat sanded look. Has anyone else had a finish turn out better than expected by switching up the grit sequence like that?

That Trizact 1500 is basically a finishing step. It's designed to leave a fine scratch pattern, so it makes sense your panel looks smooth. I've seen guys get hung up on the "perfect" grit order, but at the end of the day, if the dent is gone and the primer is sealed, you're just polishing it out anyway. It's not some magic trick, it's just a finer sanding disc. The real test is how it looks after you spray color and clear on it.
