Am I the only one who had a brand new spray gun fail mid-job?
I was in the middle of a clear coat on a 2022 Ford F-150 hood yesterday and my Iwata gun just STOPPED spraying. No sputter, no warning, just dead air. Turns out the internal seal blew out and fluid was leaking everywhere inside the cup. I had to strip the whole thing down in the middle of my booth and swap to a backup gun that cost me an extra 45 minutes. Has anyone else had a new gun fail like this right out of the box?

Saw a video from a paint rep last month talking about this exact issue with newer Iwata guns. He said they started using a different type of gasket material around 2021 that doesn't hold up to some clear coats. Had a buddy at a collision shop in Phoenix tell me three of their new guns blew seals in the first month. It's a real hassle when you're mid-job and the gun just quits. Makes you wonder why they'd mess with something that worked fine for years just to save a nickel on parts. At least you had a backup ready, some guys don't and that's a total nightmare.

Yeah @gibson.robert I actually thought people were overreacting but this totally changed my mind on that.
