Update: That time my sled got stuck in a drift up near Lake Tahoe and a stranger with a winch got me out in ten minutes flat.

Ever since that day, I always pack my own portable winch and a longer strap, no matter how short the ride looks on the map.

That's a solid point from morganm69. Makes you wonder how many people are out there with winches now because they got stuck once. Kind of a cool chain reaction.

That "chain reaction" reminds me of the guy who started carrying jumper cables after I helped him in a grocery store lot.
