Picked a fiber cement siding over vinyl for our 1950s bungalow in Decatur
We had to choose between James Hardie and vinyl when we replaced the cladding last spring. Went with Hardie because a neighbor in Kirkwood said it holds paint better in our humidity. 6 months in and the curb appeal is way better than I expected, even if it cost us $3,200 more. Anyone else dealt with contractor pushback on fiber cement installation?

You feel the curb appeal was worth the extra cost? Hardie holds up way better in southern humidity for sure.
