Picked the cheap sky tracker over the fancy one and finally got a clean Milky Way shot
Last month I was stuck between a $400 tracker and a $90 used one from a guy in Reno. I went with the cheap one because I could return it, and it took two nights of fiddling to get the polar alignment down. Saturday around 1am I got 40 stacked frames of the Milky Way over the hills and the stars actually look round this time. Half my subs still got tossed but the final shot is the first one I'm proud of. Anyone else running a cheap tracker, and how long do your batteries last in the cold?
