Finally got a decent shot of the Orion Nebula after months of blurry mess
Back in October, my photos were just fuzzy grey blobs because I was trying to do 30-second exposures without any tracking. Last week, I borrowed a friend's old star tracker and spent a whole night in my backyard getting it aligned. The difference is crazy, I can actually see the pinkish gas clouds now. Anyone have tips for dealing with light pollution from the city glow?

And yeah that light pollution filter makes a real difference, I threw one on after getting tired of washing out the fainter details in every shot. Even with a cheaper clip-in filter for my DSLR, it cuts down the city glow enough that I can stretch the data further in processing without the background turning all splotchy orange. Pair that with some shorter subs and you'll be surprised what you can pull out of even a moderately polluted sky.
