The guy at the DMV in Tulsa told me I was doing it wrong and honestly he was right
So I've always been the kind of person who shows up to the DMV like an hour early because I figured that's what you're supposed to do. This older guy in line next to me, maybe 60, asks why I'm there so early and I said to beat the crowd. He laughed and said the early crowd is exactly the problem. He told me to show up around 2pm on a Tuesday, like 1:50, because the morning rush is all the people who think the same way I do. I tried it a couple weeks ago and walked out in 22 minutes with my new license. The whole time I sat there thinking about every Tuesday morning I wasted standing in that parking lot. Now I want to know what other lines I've been standing in wrong my whole life. What's a place you used to show up early to that you now hit at a totally different time?
My buddy had the same thing happen with the gym. He used to drag himself there at 5:30am because he thought that was when serious people go. Turns out 5:30am is packed with everyone who thinks the same way. He switched to like 1pm on weekdays and now half the machines are open and he's in and out in 40 minutes. He said the only tradeoff is the retirees hogging the good bench but honestly he'll take it.
