Spent 4 hours trying to install a ceiling fan that should have taken 45 minutes
I bought a $60 ceiling fan from Home Depot last Saturday and figured I'd swap out the old one in under an hour. Four hours later I was still standing on a ladder with wires tangled around my arm. The problem was the old mounting bracket had been screwed into a stud at a weird angle so I had to cut drywall and install a new brace. Plus the wiring colors didn't match my house because the previous owner used white wire for hot. Has anyone else run into a home project that took 3x longer than you planned?

Respectfully, I see it different. Four hours for a first-time ceiling fan swap isn't bad at all when you factor in the old bracket and that wild wiring situation. You probably saved yourself a couple hundred bucks and learned more about your house's quirks than any YouTube video could ever teach you.

Wait, the OLD bracket was still on there?! No way.
