I started writing my grocery list on paper again and saved $60 in a month
I used to keep my grocery list in a notes app on my phone, but I kept getting distracted by texts and would forget half of what I needed. About 5 weeks ago I switched to a plain index card and a pen, and I only buy what's on the card. Last month I spent $240 on groceries instead of the usual $300, mostly because I stopped making extra trips for stuff I forgot. The bigger surprise is I actually stick to the card because crossing items off feels weirdly satisfying. Has anyone else noticed that a paper list keeps them more honest than their phone does?
Oh wow, the crossing things off part really got me. Do you find yourself adding stuff to the card just so you can cross it off, or does the list stay pretty tight? I'm curious how you handle the stuff you buy every week but never write down, like milk or bread, because that's where my phone list always fell apart. Also do you keep the old cards around to look back at, or toss them once the trip is done?
