Warned my whole knitting circle about superwash wool and hot water and nobody listened
Dropped a finished sock in a hot soak last Sunday and it came out the size of a Christmas ornament, so now three people in my Tuesday group are redoing baby sweaters from scratch. Anyone else got a felting horror story that finally convinced their friends to read the label?
Used to roll my eyes at the label checkers in my group, figured a little warm water never hurt anybody. Then my husband threw my hand knit merino hat in the dryer with his jeans and it came out fitting a toddler. That was the day I stopped being smug about it and started reading every ball band like it was a warning label from the government. Now I keep a little card in my project bag with the care stuff written down so I don't forget. Cost me one hat to learn, but the lesson stuck.
