That week I found a 200 year old grave under a parking lot in Savannah was my worst dig ever

We were called in to clear the site for a new condo development and ended up finding 17 bodies in a historic African American burial ground nobody recorded, and the developer flipped out on us for slowing down his timeline, has anyone else dealt with contractors who just want you to make stuff disappear?

Read about a similar thing happening in Georgia. Developer tried to pressure the crew into just covering the bones back up. Told them nobody would know.

That thing about 'nobody would know' really gets me. That's exactly what they told us too when we found old child graves on a site a few years back. I just said no flat out, told them I'd rather lose the contract than bury that. Called the county historian myself and got the whole thing documented proper. Turned into a whole archaeology dig that delayed the project six months but at least those kids got a proper reburial. You gotta draw a line somewhere or you'll be covering up stuff your whole career just so some guy can build his condos.
