Saw a thing about Roman concrete lasting 2,000 years because of hot mixing with lime clasts

I was watching some YouTube video about ancient Roman structures last night and they said their concrete actually heals itself over time from cracks forming. Turns out they mixed quicklime directly into the mix instead of slaking it first like we do now. Has anyone else looked into this or tried replicating it for modern work?

idk that sounds kinda overhyped honestly. Roman concrete is cool and all but we don't really need roads and aqueducts to last 2,000 years now do we? Its not like theyre gonna tear down a modern bridge in 60 years and say "wow shoulda used lime clasts".

Right! My neighbor just spent a fortune on a brand new driveway last summer and the frost heave already cracked it all to hell. Meanwhile I'm driving over Roman roads that have been sitting there for almost two thousand years with barely a pothole. We definitely built things better in the past, no question. What even are lime clasts anyway?
