A Roman pottery shard from a dig near Bath made me rethink everything about dating layers
I was at a field school last August near Bath and the instructor pointed out how mixing from a bad seed drill layer threw off our whole timeline by almost 200 years. How do you guys handle disturbed contexts without just tossing everything out?

Oh wow, a whole 200 years off just from one bad layer? That's honestly terrifying to think about. I mean, idk how you'd even begin to untangle that kind of contamination without just throwing everything out. Maybe it's just me but I'd probably lean toward keeping the stuff that's clearly older and just noting the disturbance in the report.
