Tried a new climbing line on a big maple removal... the difference was huge
Had to take down a 70 foot sugar maple in a tight backyard last week. I've always used my old 16-strand line for everything, but this time I brought a 24-strand line I got on sale. The old one was fine, but the new one ran through the pulley so much smoother, with way less friction. I was able to make cleaner, more controlled cuts on the big upper limbs... probably saved me an hour of work and a lot of arm strain. Has anyone else made a small gear switch that ended up being a bigger help than you thought?

Wait, you used a 16-strand for everything before? That's wild.

It was a dark time, man, just pure ignorance.

Remember my buddy who tried to fix his deck with that stuff? He used it to tie up a sagging rail, patch a hole in the lattice, even tried to make a little plant hanger. Everything just kind of... fell apart in a month. The rail slipped, the patch blew out, the hanger snapped. He was so mad he just ripped it all out and started over.
