The rope wrap I kept doing finally cost me a removal job

Last month I was doing a tall white oak removal over a garage in Madison and my friction hitch kept locking up because I had too many wraps on the lowering device. I thought more wraps meant more control, but it just made the rope bind and I had to stop mid-crane pick to sort it out. Client watched the whole thing and asked if I always work that slow. Turns out the crew I learned from never taught me proper wrap counts for different line sizes and loads. I swapped to two wraps on a 5/8 line and it ran smooth for the rest of the week. Anyone else learned a basic rigging habit the hard way in front of a homeowner?

Check your rope angle too, two wraps ain't always the fix.
