Rope wrench vs friction saver for canopy work, clear winner for me
I ran both setups on a big red oak in Asheville last month. The rope wrench gave me way more control on the descent, especially on the rough bark. Friction saver was easier to set but I kept fighting the rope twist. Has anyone else switched permanents after a side by side test like that?

Bark condition is the hidden variable here, most folks only test on smooth bark and miss how much grab changes everything. That rough oak surface probably made the wrench shine harder than any side by side on a maple would.
