My climbing line snapped mid-ascent yesterday - gear check your static ropes

I was only about 30 feet up when I heard that awful popping sound and suddenly I was dropping. My old static line that I'd been using for 3 years just gave out at a frayed spot I hadn't noticed. Has anyone else had a rope break on them and what did you switch to?
