I finally listened to the old guy about climbing line care

For a long time I just hosed my lines off after a muddy job. Last month I started using a bucket with a little bit of mild soap and a soft brush, then letting them air dry away from sun. The difference in how they feel and handle is huge, like they're brand new again. Has anyone else found a simple cleaning step that made a big difference for their gear?

Man I wish I had started doing that sooner. I used to just drag my line through clean grass and call it good, but it always felt stiff after a while. Switched to a proper wash and hang dry in the garage, and the coils just lay so much nicer now. It's crazy how much grit gets stuck in there even after it looks clean.

Yeah, the "looks clean" part is what gets me. What do you actually use to wash it? I tried just a bucket of soapy water once but it felt like I was just moving the dirt around.
