Walked into a customer's kitchen in Akron and they had a dryer vent taped with duct tape
Three loads of lint backed up behind the drum, could've been a fire in a month. Has anyone else seen the wild stuff homeowners pass off as a permanent fix?

Man, duct tape on a dryer vent is like a right of passage for bad DIY. I used to think, "eh, it'll hold, what's the big deal" until my buddy had a service call exactly like yours last summer. The lint build-up was unreal, and the heat coming off that drum was scary. That changed my whole view on it, now I see duct tape and I just cringe. It's one of those things where you don't realize how dangerous it is until you see the aftermath up close.
