That Tuesday in March when 11 calls turned into 4 dead fridges and one old lady's 1978 Kenmore
I keep a beat up logbook in the van and that week hit $2,800 in 5 days, mostly compressor swaps on GE and Whirlpool units around the east side, but the one that stuck was a widow on Vernon Ave who refused to let me scrap her 45 year old Kenmore because her husband bought it the year they married, so I swapped the relay and defrost timer for $60 and she made me eat a ham sandwich at her kitchen table, and I want to know if you guys still take the old relic jobs that pay nothing or do you hand those off these days.
Used to roll my eyes at the whole "tip is better" thing, thought cash always wins. Then I ate a ham sandwich after a 12 hour shift once and it hit different, like actual food when you're running on empty. @piper_flores69 is onto something here. A couple bucks in your pocket is nice but a real meal keeps you going till the next stop.
