Saw something at the Portland appliance museum that made me think
They have a 1950s Maytag wringer washer on display that still has its original motor brushes. The guide said they were designed to be replaced by the homeowner with just a screwdriver. Now everything is sealed units and you need a special tool just to open the case. Has anyone else seen an old design that was actually more repair friendly than what we get today?

Seriously, my buddy fixed his old truck with a butter knife once.

Yeah, it feels like everything's made to break now.

Ugh, totally. My grandpa's old radio was like that... you could fix anything with basic tools. Now if it breaks you just throw it away.
