Refrigerator compressor test: did I have it backwards for 8 years?
I always checked continuity on the compressor terminals to see if it was shot, but a unit in Austin last month had perfect continuity and still wouldn't start. Turns out I should've been checking the resistance between start and run terminals against the spec sheet, since a shorted winding can show continuity too. Anyone else learn a basic test wrong early on and find out from a weird field failure?
