Blew my mind when I looked up how many fridge compressors we used to fix vs. replace
I was digging through old service records from 1995 last week and found we replaced about 1 in 20 compressors back then. Now it's closer to 1 in 3. Anyone else notice the quality drop in modern sealed units?

Found a compressor from 1987 in my buddy's garage still running on an old fridge he uses for beer. Those things were built like tanks compared to the new plastic junk. Makes me wonder if we're just paying for better planned breakdowns now.

Man, tell me about it. My buddy @emmam67 had this old fridge in his garage too, same deal. Thing was from the 80s and ran for like 20 years straight without a hiccup. Then he bought a new fridge and that compressor died in like 3 years. He pulled the old one out and it still worked fine. All that old metal and copper just doesn't quit like today's plastic and aluminum junk. Planned obsolescence is real, I'm telling you.
