A coworker's hot take on filler arcs made me rethink skipping them

I was talking with a guy at the shop about how I skip filler arcs to save time, and he said he watches them because they show characters just living, which you don't get in the manga. We argued for like 20 minutes, but then I went back and watched the beach episode from One Piece and saw what he meant. Has anyone else gone back on filler after hating it for years?

Ditched the whole Naruto filler catalog for years, then watched the Itachi backstory arc on a whim. Total game changer, felt like I finally got the emotional payoff the manga just rushed through. Now I at least skim filler before I skip it.
