Showerthought: I just saw that Amarillo's small business survival rate is way above the Texas average
Honestly, I was reading a report from the local chamber of commerce and it said over 60% of small businesses here make it past 5 years. That's a lot higher than the state number, which surprised me. Do you think it's because of cheaper rent or just a more supportive community?

I mean, the chamber report is probably counting franchises as small businesses, which kinda skews the number.

My local chamber counted a Subway as three separate small businesses last year. That kind of counting really messes with the stats on Main Street survival rates. It makes the whole report feel pretty disconnected from actual independent shops.

Franchise math is its own weird category. Makes those survival rates look way better than they actually are.
