Showerthought: a customer told me my invoices looked "homemade" and it stung enough to fix
Ran my landscaping gig here in Amarillo for 3 years and always typed up invoices in a plain Word doc with no logo. Back in March a commercial client on Olsen told me straight up that my paperwork looked homemade compared to the other bids he had on his desk. He still hired me but said it made him nervous about how I'd handle his property. That one comment pushed me to spend a weekend building a real invoice template with my logo, license number, and a clear payment schedule at the bottom. Fast forward 4 months and I've closed 6 of my last 8 bids, and two folks actually mentioned the paperwork looking sharp. Turns out the boring business side matters as much as the actual work for some clients. Anybody else get a random comment that made them overhaul something they thought was fine?
