Spent 2 years watering my xeriscape beds every morning, then a neighbor asked why
I put in gravel and native plants in my front yard back in 2022 to cut down on water, and I was out there with the hose every single morning like clockwork. Last month my neighbor across the street in the NE heights asked why I was watering plants that are supposed to survive on rain alone. Turns out I had been soaking them so much their roots never went deep, so they were weaker than the weeds I was trying to beat. I cut the watering to once every two weeks, and six weeks later the sand sage and blackfoot daisies look better than they ever did. My water bill dropped from about 40 bucks a month to 24. Now I want to know how many other people here are overwatering their xeriscape because it feels wrong to just leave it alone.
